Hispanicize 2014 was held in Miami from April 1st to 4th. It is an event organized by the hispanicize brand, a group of companies focused on communications for the Latino market in the US. The event is the iconic, largest annual event for Latino’s trendsetters and newsmakers in social media, journalism, advertising, PR, film, music and innovation. The event gathered more than 1,700 nation’s most influential Latino professionals from these industries.
For the first time ever, the non profit organization: Latino Startup Alliance (LSA) from San Francisco partnered with the event organizers to boost the entrepreneur wing of the event. In fact, LSA leaders were part of the judges that were to choose the champion of the contest “Latino Startup of the year” among dozens of Startups founded or led by Latinos living in the U.S. This contest stands out among others because it provides Latino’s startups with tangible national exposure, media coverage and other benefits that are significantly stronger because they take place within the Hispanicize event.
On the opening day of the event, the four finalists were announced: Crowdismo, New Force Media, Interesante and Oye! A day later, they had to pitch their startups and answer the judges questions, who would then decide who the winner was.
Antonio Altamirano, our CEO, flew to Miami, in a less than 24 hours rampage trip he spoke in two panels; gave the pitch, met the entrepreneur ecosystem of Miami, and shared some interesting data and fun pictures (@antonio.) These was worthy, Interesante won the contest and was named “The Latino Startup of the Year”!
We are very happy to win this award and very thankful with Antonio who has been our voice in many of these kind of events. We are also grateful with our colleagues from the contestant Startups, from whom we learn a lot. We hope that this event will help get the Latino’s entrepreneurs on top of the Tech World.
